Find the center line in Janu Sirsasana A to help stabilize the core, open the hips and fold more forward.

Avoid twisting the torso off to the side when reaching for the extended foot. This deprives the body of the inner work of the forward fold. There is in fact an internal twisting action that supports the alignment of the chest and the extended knee. But if the external body twists and veers off to the side, this more subtle inner work won’t be as accessible.

Instead, start off with a solid foundation in the pelvic floor. Then, maintain the external rotation of the hip joint on the side where the knee is bent, and then orient the center of the chest towards the center of the extended knee. Close the hip on the extended leg and scoop the lower abdomen in towards the spine as you fold forward.

While Jan Sirsasana A may at first seem like a simple pose, this asana contains many secrets that unlock other poses and more subtle experiences once the mind is attuned to the inner work. For anyone with tight hips or knee injuries, this asana is anything but simple. There always ways to adapt the pose to meet your body where it is.

The last time I was in Nepal nearly twenty-five ye

The last time I was in Nepal nearly twenty-five years ago, I sat my first Vipassana meditation course and have wanted to return since then. And now, here I am, at the same spot where I once stood years ago at the beginning of a lifelong journey.

As I left South India and traveled to Nepal all those years ago, my yoga teacher told me that the same person would not come back from Nepal. He was right. That first meditation course changed my life in ways that are still unfolding.

So much has changed since then that I can barely recognize the Kathmandu of my memory. So much has changed in me as well that some people would not recognize the person they once knew then. But the heart of the young seeker I once was lives on in me to this day.

The Boundhanath Stupa feels somehow unchanged amidst all that has risen up around it. The pilgrims circumambulating the sacred space, the monks, the spirituality woven into the fabric of ordinary life.

This is our last stop after over three months of travel in Asia. The long journey home begins now. Our bags are stuffed, our hearts are joyful, our bodies are tired and our spirits are bright.

The majestic hike to the world famous Tiger’s Ne

The majestic hike to the world famous Tiger’s Nest monastery is everything it seems it would be, and more. Paro Taktsang was established as a meditation cave where Guru Padmasambhava and his consort Yeshe Tsogyal meditated in the 8th century and is an active site for long meditation retreats to this day. I spent a few moments alone in silence in her meditation cave today along the way.

The trip up was hot, sunny and cardiovascular. The meditation caves were cold, damp and magically infused. The way down was rainy and ended with a magnificent rainbow. Every moment was a blessing. Loads more in stories if you want to see.

We shared this incredible day with an amazing group of people who all joined me and @timfeldmannyoga on this special trip with @the_spiritual_pilgrim and @bhutan_lakhor_tours

This life is more precious than we often realize.

This life is more precious than we often realize. Each breath, each moment, each thought and action—none of it is insignificant. Whether we see it or not, everything we do sends ripples out into the world. The path of yoga teaches us to slow down enough to notice. To notice ourselves, our patterns, our reactions, our choices.

It’s not always easy. In fact, it’s usually uncomfortable to really see ourselves clearly. But that’s where the transformation begins. Yoga asks us to meet ourselves with honesty and compassion, and then to ask the deeper questions: Who am I becoming? What am I here for? How can I live with more love?

Through dedicated practice, we begin to refine our awareness. We shift from reacting unconsciously to responding with purpose. We begin to live with intention. And from that space, something beautiful unfolds—a life filled with radiant joy, grounded presence, and a heart wide open with love.

This is the real work. And it’s worth everything.
