Let us be like the earth—patient with all who walk upon it.

Let us be like the ocean—deep enough to receive all storms.

Let us be like the sky—wide enough to hold it all, and still remain clear.

The foundation of the yogic path is *darśana* (दर्शन), from the Sanskrit root √dṛś, meaning “to see.” But this is not ordinary seeing — darśana is insight, the capacity to perceive reality as it is, beyond illusion or fear.

Before we can quiet the mind, we must see clearly what disturbs it. Yoga asks us to confront what is — suffering, injustice, impermanence — not with despair, but with lucidity.

When the world is burning with hatred and confusion, let us become keepers of an ancient flame—one that does not consume, but clarifies, illuminates and vibrates with love.

Guess where this video was filmed. Yes you guessed it—Bali! It’s one of our favorite places to visit and teach at in the world. We have been blessed to visit this beautiful spirit-filled island for many years.

Try this one small trick to help your leg get behi

Try this one small trick to help your leg get behind the head. Slide the shoulder forward and the calf muscle back at the same time. This creates the space to negotiate between the leg and the torso. Finally, once the leg is in a good position, activate the neck muscles and push back with the head onto the shin bone to lock in place.

The leg behind the head movement is one of the deepest external hip rotations in the practice. Go slowly and don’t force.

Join Tim and me on the mat in the Mysore room as we explore this asana and so much more together.

Mallorca is our next stop after this month’s Mysore season. This short tutorial was filmed during our two week retreat in Mallorca @balearicretreats We love this island in the Mediterranean and look forward to spending two weeks there immersed in Ashtanga Yoga this summer and we hope you’ll join us.

Yoga is not only the shape the body makes.
It is the shape the soul remembers.

Long before there were yoga mats or mirrors,
there were quiet hearts sitting in stillness,
breath threading the seen and unseen worlds.

The path winds through the subtle body,
where breath and prāṇa move like rivers beneath the skin.

The yogi is not just a thinker but an alchemist,
using breath, bandha, and mudrā to awaken a yoga of fire, and burn away illusion through energy.

The journey is carved by devotion—
by surrender, by longing,
not through control,
but through yearning—
This is a yoga of love,
a soft dissolving into That which cannot be spoken.

The pose is only the beginning.
What matters is the stillness it opens.
What matters is the space it clears
for devotion to rise,
for the Self to shine,
for Truth to be revealed.

And so yoga is not a performance.
It is a pilgrimage.
