I am in Mysore now, a place that has been the home of yoga for me for the last twenty-six years of my life. Being here in this moment, neither as student nor teacher, feels like something between a dream and a memory, as though time folds in on itself and the past and present weave together, offering a glimpse of a possible future.

The power of place, and the sacred dimension of pilgrimage, will always remain profound. Some spaces hold practice the way a vessel holds water. They remind us, without words, of who we have been, what we have devoted ourselves to, what continues, and what we hope may one day be.

We are all students of yoga. We are all practitioners and fellow seekers on the path. No matter where we are in the journey, no matter how far we feel we have come, we remain students. And yet now I am a student without a teacher. This threshold feels scary to cross but perhaps it is not an ending but a kind of maturation. The lineage does not disappear when a teacher is gone, maybe it’s asking to be embodied more deeply.

Both of my teachers continued practicing and sharing even after their own teachers passed away. I find myself reflecting on this, especially now. Where did they return to the source for continued nourishment?

The answer, it seems, is that none of us walks alone. The outer forms may change. Teachers arrive and depart. Roles shift. Places evolve. Yet the source does not vanish, because the source is not outside us. The source is always within.

Strength is not something that suddenly appears. I

Strength is not something that suddenly appears. It gathers slowly, almost invisibly, shaped by repetition, by effort, by returning again and again when it would be easier to stop. Often we do not notice our own strength while we are inside the struggle. Only later, looking back, do we see how much we have endured, how much we have grown, how steady the heart has become.

Yoga calls this steadiness sthira. It is the quiet firmness that does not depend on achievement, the grounded presence that remains whether we rise or fall, succeed or struggle. The deeper lesson of strength is not whether we ever lift higher or accomplish more. It is what the practice builds within us while we try. Inner steadiness, patience, humility, and courage matter more than any outward measure of progress.

If you are searching for strength, begin with small acts of continuity. Show up, even when motivation is quiet. Breathe steadily when the mind becomes uncertain. Stay rooted in what you know to be true. Let discipline be gentle but consistent. Allow patience to replace urgency. Trust that clarity comes through practice, not before it.

No matter where you are, no matter what you are moving through, do not give up. There is always a way forward, even if it reveals itself one step at a time. Keep practicing. Stay true to yourself. Stay true to the path. Strength, in time, will reveal that it has been growing within you all along.
