In forward folds, the body turns inward, layering into itself like a closing gesture, a soft bow to something deeper than effort. The Sanskrit name itself offers a subtle hint: paścima refers to the west, the back body, the unseen side, while uttāna means an intense stretch or deliberate extension. What we encounter here is not only a lengthening of the posterior chain, but a turning toward the inner landscape. Classical yoga reminds us that practice is a process of refinement.

After three full days of teaching in Hong Kong, and nearly seven hours of teaching, I am ready to take rest. The led second series was on fire today 🔥 Thanks to everyone who joined here in HK.

Grief changes the shape of the path.

There are some losses that cannot be repaired or replaced. They ask us to live differently. They ask us to practice differently. They ask us to listen more deeply for what still remains. For so many of us, SharathJi was not only a teacher of asana, but a guardian of discipline, devotion, and the sacred fire of the lineage. His passing left a space that can never be filled, and yet within that space, something else continues to glow.

In this episode of the Yoga Inspiration Podcast, I am joined by @timfeldmannyoga, @josepharmstrongyoga, @edgarinmotion, Francis Cole Jones, and @heather_serna for a special conversation recorded in remembrance of SharathJi, reflecting on his life, his teaching, and the quiet ways his presence continues to live on through practice. What remains after the loss of a teacher is not only sorrow, but the responsibility to carry the teachings forward with sincerity, humility, and steadiness.

This episode is an offering to memory, to studentship, and to the invisible thread that continues between teacher, student, and practice. Through stories, reflection, and shared remembrance, we honor not only who he was, but what he awakened in all of us. The practice continues. The teaching continues. The love continues.

May we keep showing up with open hearts.
May we carry the lineage with care.
May we remember that what is most sacred is not possessed, but lived.

Just for fun 😊 Handstand play on my last morning in beautiful Bali. I’m not the best at handstands by far but they bring me so much joy (probably because I am not naturally good at strength and inversions).
