My new Handstand Training Series on Omstars is designed to help you develop the foundational mechanics, strength, and confidence needed to build a sustainable inversion practice over time.

Through structured drills, live guidance, weekly homework, and direct support from experienced teachers, this training offers a grounded approach to inversions rooted in practice rather than performance.

This is about building the conditions that make balance possible. We cannot get the perfect pose overnight, but we can learn good technique that will help us on our journey.

Don’t collapse the shoulders and play the elbows out while kicking the body. Instead build a solid foundation by stacking the elbows in line with the shoulders, recruiting the strength of external rotation to stabilize the humorous and its socket and firm the deltoid to create a clear boundary and support. Next using the core and forward Ben flexibility stack the hips over the shoulders. Finally to lift up, extend one leg up and gently lift or jump with the hips into the vertical axis.

Try this entry and build up step by step into Pinchamayurasana.

What I have always said is that the magic of yoga

What I have always said is that the magic of yoga is not in the arrival, but in the journey. It’s not about demonstrating perfection but about learning how to enjoy the challenge. Failing with grace is maybe more important than feeling like you’re winning.

It’s the aspect of studentship that is willing to be transparently vulnerable, that is able to embrace not knowing, imperfection, humility, a kind of teachable spirit that rests in a heart of love. A student who doesn’t want anything from the teacher but to share the journey together, one that doesn’t demand a certain type of acknowledgement, or else turns bitter.

We don’t go on a journey just to rush back, and we don’t practice just to perform. Failure and success alike, strength and weakness, flexibility and stiffness, all are welcome on the journey.

There are qualities of depth that are unteachable but might be transmitted through time and presence. There are lessons that are hard to learn and feel like the slow process of water polishing a stone, others that are fiery and explosive, and others which are soft and warm, like an ocean sunrise.

Whether teacher or student, we are here to embrace the journey.

Yoga is not only training the body. It is training

Yoga is not only training the body. It is training the mind.

The physical practice may bring us to the mat, but what keeps us returning year after year is something much deeper. Through breath, repetition, concentration, and awareness, yoga reveals the patterns of the mind and teaches us how to work with them consciously.

The real work of practice begins when we start observing our thoughts instead of immediately reacting to them. Fear, distraction, self-judgment, resistance, comparison. All of these arise in practice just as they arise in life.

Yoga gives us a method for staying present through all of it.

In this week’s episode of Yoga Inspiration, we reflect on yoga as mind training through the teachings of the Bhagavad Gītā, the Yoga Sūtra, and the lineage of Ashtanga Yoga.
