As I travel and teach in Asia, our practice continues on @omtarsofficial with a special live series on Asia time zone.

These 30 minute Yoga Drills are short, focused immersions designed to build strength, refine control, and cultivate intelligent flexibility. Each session explores key actions that support the deeper architecture of the Ashtanga method, helping you move with greater steadiness, clarity, and intention.

Even in a condensed format, the work is precise and transformative. Small refinements create lasting change. One conscious drill at a time, we build the foundation for a resilient and sustainable practice.

Why practice āsana? It is a question that every practitioner must eventually ask themselves, because the answer becomes the ground upon which the entire path rests. Without a clear sense of purpose, practice can easily drift toward performance, ambition, or habit. Yet when we return to the deeper intention behind āsana, the practice begins to reveal its true function. It becomes a doorway into the interior life.

The purpose of āsana practice is not simply flexibility, strength, or even physical health, although these are welcome benefits. Its deeper purpose is to help us rediscover the sacred landscape within ourselves, the place where presence is steady, where compassion naturally arises, and where the quiet intelligence of life reveals itself. When we practice with this understanding, every posture becomes more than an exercise. It becomes an exploration of consciousness itself.

One of the most powerful moments on the yogic path is the moment we realize that we don’t actually know.

Yoga begins not with certainty, but with humility. The willingness to pause and question our own perception. To recognize that what we think we understand may still be shaped by conditioning, habit, and emotion.

In this episode of the Yoga Inspiration Podcast, @timfeldmannyoga and I explore the yogic principle of viveka, the capacity for discernment. The ability to see clearly what is true and what is assumption, what arises from clarity and what arises from confusion.

Assisting in yoga opens a channel of communication that reaches beyond the rational mind. When a teacher offers a hands-on assist, the dialogue is not primarily verbal or conceptual. It unfolds through sensation, breath, timing, and presence. There is a kind of kinesthetic intelligence that moves through the contact, a subtle exchange in which the body often understands something before the intellect can name it. A well-timed touch can invite the spine to lengthen, help the breath soften, or reveal a pathway of support that the student may not have felt on their own. In this way, assisting has long been part of the embodied pedagogy of traditions like Ashtanga yoga, where learning is transmitted not only through explanation but through lived, physical experience.

We remain sincerely thankful to each person who practices with us and helps cultivate a space where the teachings of yoga can continue to unfold with integrity, compassion, and care.
