This Half Primary Series is a moment to gather everything you’ve been working on. The standing postures, the hip opening, the forward folds, all of it begins to weave together into something more continuous. Less about individual shapes, and more about the flow of the practice as a whole.

Ashtanga is a traditional method, a moving meditation guided by breath and count. It asks for consistency, for patience, and for the willingness to keep going, even when it feels challenging.

Take this as a checkpoint, not a finish line. A moment to recognize your effort, to stay grounded in the process, and to keep moving forward.

Some postures ask for patience.

Marichyasana D is not something you arrive at all at once. It’s a layering of actions, a conversation between the hips, the spine, and the breath. Each part has to be understood, integrated, and respected.

We begin with the foundation. The half lotus. Not forcing the shape, but creating a stable and easeful base. When the foot is placed with care and the knee is supported, the posture starts to unfold from a place of intelligence rather than effort.

From there, the twist emerges. Not as something you push into, but something that grows from the center. A spiraling inward that asks for attention, for sensitivity, for time.

This posture reminds us that complexity is built from simplicity. That when we slow down and work with each piece, the whole becomes accessible.

Some postures ask you to fold in, not to withdraw, but to understand.

Marichyasana A brings you into an asymmetry that reveals how each side of the body works differently. One leg grounded and bent, the other extended, and the spine moving forward into a deep fold. It’s a meeting point between structure and surrender.

As you draw the torso forward, there is a quiet invitation to move from the hips rather than forcing from the back. To create space before depth. To feel the subtle work happening in the bent leg, the extended leg, and the breath that connects them both.

This is where the practice becomes more refined. Not just doing the posture, but understanding how to enter it. How to support it. How to stay present inside of it.
