Challenge Day 31- Yoga is Home

Home is where the heart is, or at least that’s what they say. But, really, what does home really represent, to you, to your heart?

The very idea of home is a feeling of belonging, a sense of deep connection that transcends the daily grind. In a world increasingly more connected, more and more people feel disconnected and yearn for a return of some sort. We want to go home, but we don’t know how. We search for a home in culture, society, government, and family and friends. We cling to what we remember from our childhood, or to stories told about our ancestors. And yet, there is so much more to the idea of home.

If you, like me, have always felt a little bit separate from the world “out there”, then you may have felt a call to return to your spiritual home. It starts as a still small voice that whispers to you about something deeper. The calling begins as a small kindle in the heart and slowly grows to a mighty conflagration. Home is a place of imperturbable peace, an eternal sanctuary that reveals all the bliss of this world to be utterly transparent. To find a sense of home while being here, in this skin, in this body, is the purpose of the spiritual path.

Yoga is a call to begin the long and winding journey home, to the center of your heart, where the seat of your spirit lives. When you start practicing yoga, you have answered the call of your spirit to come back home. There’s a part of you that already knows that your real home is heaven.
