We don’t always know where we are going, and that’s ok. The mind longs for a map, for certainty, for a clearly marked destination, but the deeper rhythms of life rarely unfold that way. Yoga reminds us that not all knowledge arrives in advance. Some of it reveals itself only through participation, through the willingness to take a step without guarantees. Instead of needing to see the whole path, we begin to trust the quiet intelligence of the next step. We learn to recognize the small, often subtle signs that point us forward, not as a fixed plan, but as a living conversation between effort and surrender.

This is where faith begins to take root. Not as blind belief, but as a steady orientation of the heart toward something greater than our limited understanding. It is the feeling that, even when we cannot see the destination, the act of showing up matters. The breath, the posture, the return to presence each day becomes a gesture of trust in the unfolding itself.

Uncertainty no longer feels like a problem to be solved. It becomes a space of possibility. The absence of a fixed plan invites us into a more intimate relationship with life, one that is responsive rather than rigid. Deep faith transforms practice from something we do into something we live.

This isn’t practice. This is just a moment.

A photo captures something fleeting, a single frame in time. Practice is something else entirely. It’s a relationship that unfolds slowly, shaped by repetition, patience, and the return to the mat day after day. What you see here might hold a trace of that feeling, but it is only ever a hint.

So why share it at all?

Because sometimes a glimpse is enough. Enough to remind you that joy is possible. Enough to spark something small and alive inside you. Enough to inspire. Yoga has given me the spark of joy, not just in moments like this, but in the texture of my life.

My teacher always said we should enjoy our practice, and also, enjoy our life.

When I first stepped into the demanding terrain of

When I first stepped into the demanding terrain of the advanced postures under the guidance of my teachers in India, I did not arrive with confidence. I arrived with doubt. The shapes felt impossibly distant, and I did not feel worthy of them, or ready. And yet I tried, not because I believed in myself, but because they believed in me.

Transmission happens in the presence of a teacher who sees something in you before you see it in yourself. Through steady encouragement over time that borrowed belief becomes an inner resource. What begins as something external takes root within, and the teacher’s vision becomes a mirror through which the student begins to recognize their own capacity.

After nearly three decades of daily Ashtanga Yoga practice, I can say that who I am has been shaped not only by my own effort, but by the ground my teachers held for me. I showed up, I practiced, I stayed through repetition and failure, but it was their belief that sustained the path when my own certainty wavered. Over the years, the postures that once felt impossible have become familiar, but the deeper lesson remains. Progress is not measured by complexity.

What we sustain over decades is not just a sequence of postures, but a relationship. A relationship to practice, to lineage, to those who guided us, and to the parts of ourselves that are still learning how to believe.

After moving through each posture step by step, we begin to experience how everything comes together. The strength, the flexibility, the breath, and the focus all find their place within the flow of the sequence.

What once felt like separate pieces now starts to connect.

There is a steadiness that develops through repetition, a familiarity that allows the practice to feel more fluid and more grounded. Each movement is supported by what has been built along the way.

This is not an end point, but a continuation.

The practice evolves as you return to it, again and again, with greater awareness and intention.
