It might sounds strange, but the more concentrated

It might sounds strange, but the more concentrated the mind becomes the bigger and more expensive the field of awareness can be. The more difficult is it to concentrate than the narrow and smaller the fields of conscious awareness will be.

It is almost like the mind needs to express spiritual intelligence first by concentrating on a single point of attention, and then, because the mind is able to dive so deeply into that small single point, then it is as if the infinite opens up through a tunnel. This is where the poet Williams Blake says that eternity can be found in grain of sand.

It’s this idea that through the smallest point of concentration there is expansion that can come through. But if the mind is not able to concentrate on that point, then it’s as though the whole universe is gone from us and and we’re only able to really be aware of our immediate surroundings and our immediate needs.

Relaxation is a both a blessing. Recovery is a ski

Relaxation is a both a blessing. Recovery is a skill everyone who works their body can benefit from learning. I haven’t always been good at giving myself rest, but I’m definitely getting better at it. The famous Széchenyi bath here in Budapest is the first place I ever tried a hot spring and I was hooked from the very beginning. Since then, I search them out every chance I get. It’s pure grace to spend an afternoon where the biggest question is whether to go in the sauna, the cold plunge or the geothermal pool.

How many times has the body needed healing and we

How many times has the body needed healing and we ignored the request? Or maybe we heard the body asking for healing but we didn’t know how to give it what it needed.

The body and mind sometimes want and need different things. Negotiations between the two aren’t always harmonious. If the mind wants one thing and the body needs another, it’s probably better to listen to the body. But if the mind truly needs something and the body wants something else, maybe it’s possible to accommodate the mind. Want and need are, after all, different things. Understanding the difference between what we want and what we need is a crucial part of self-awareness without which we may be chasing our tails on a futile search for fulfillment.

Our bodies and minds are not separate. They are two sides of the impermanent reality of our incarnation in physical form. Yoga helps us find a healthy and harmonious balance between body and mind.
